Hi everybody,

Is/Has anyone used an Airport Express system?
I am thinking of buying one to use with my iMac (when it comes back from Apple) and my iBook, I also would like to run surround sound speakers off of it, my printer and possibly get an Elgato System and do away with my TV set.

Is Airport Express capable of doing all this and is it any good?
Are there better options out there?

Thanks in advance for any help

Yes & no:

It will play all your music, but you won't have true surround sound as it is only a stereo output AFAIK.

Plus it only works with iTunes by default: to use it with other apps (such as Elgato's EyeTV) you'll need the hack Airfoil program.

There aren't really better options in that price class AFAIK (though maybe check out the slingbox).

Also if you use use Airfoil there will be a delay in the soind so the pic and the soind wont match and that would suck. I read that it is a Issue with the Airport Ex. and dont know how you would go about getting them to match.
