I am not sure this is the right place to be asking this question, but I figured I would go ahead and ask anyways.

I am in a Java class and I need JDK 1.6. I know that apple provides it's own software for JAVA and I have read that Snow Leopard come with J2SE 5.0 that is based on JDK 1.5.0_13_b05. My question is are JDK 1.5.0_13_b05 and JDK version 1.6 this same. Will they do the same things. Will I have compatibility issues? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

No, they are not the same. JDK 1.6 is Java 6, not Java 5. As for the included version, Java 6 is the default (I don't even have five installed). Open up /Applications/Utilities/Java Preferences.app to see what what you have installed and to set different versions as the default.

As for whether they will do the same thing, only you can answer that. We don't know what features you need and whether or not the ones you need are JDK 6 only. But, like I said, you should have JDK 6 installed anyway.
