It just seems like such a good idea to me, but nobody has made anything. The closest I’ve seen is that ThinkGeek came out with their iCade that puts the iPad in a small arcade-style game cabinet. The controls work over Bluetooth and apparently work, at least, with the Atari game collection.

I just on’t understand why they, or anyone else wouldn’t take the logical step of producing a handheld battery powered controller. I’ve heard that Wiimotes work pretty well on JB devices.

I guess it’s that you’d have to prop up your ipad somewhere to play that makes it less on-the-fly portable gaming, but seems like it would be perfect for lunch breaks at the office or in a plane and in hotels. Stuff like that.

I don't get it either.

I saw some prototypes of controllers that the iPhone/iPod touch could dock into with a typical d-pad and fire buttons. That would be cool too.

That's not bad, but I'd still rather have an separate controller in my hand. Or better yet, you could have 2 controllers and play 2 player games.

I could see some epic SFII lunchtime battles in my office. :)
