Hi guys,

Fairly new user to Audacity for Mac and I am having some problems with my built-in Mic that my MacBook Pro has.

I am currently using Audacity more as of a PA system for my singing, so basically I want it to playback instantly as I sing instead the recording and playback process.

The problem is that every time I do this my speakers tend to make a terrible noise after a few seconds of singing into the built-in mic, why does this happen?

Kind regards,
Steven

Feedback either mic volume is set to high or speaker volume to high.

An external mic moved away from the speakers may be your answer.

Either that or some type of external speaker moved away from the microphone. This si a pretty typical feedback loop. As the OP has discovered the mic and speakers are close enough together that turning things low enough to prevent this means no voice.

People tend to forget that a speaker is a transducer. It not only emits sound but it also accepts it. (like a microphone) That's what causes feedback or loud squeals. That's why you need to move the mic away from the speakers.
