Hi,
I know this problem's been discussed a lot, but still - didn't manage to get this worknig and - what's more I think this case is somewhat different...
I have a router configured by myself and 2 mac books using the wireless network. Both of them were able to connect to the internet but now one cannot any more. Airport status says it has self assigned ip address which is the problem.
In fact the IP assigned is from the range set in DHCP at router and changes with changes made to this range - so communication with this macbook and router is fine.
What's more - I can ping any host from terminal (also using host name, so it's not a DNS problem, though some of the packages get lost). I have DHCP set in network preferences, proxy usage is disabled, firewall turn off and computer has no problems with other networks.
Another issue is that when the connection was still working with this mac book - it was impossible to connect using Safari - only Firefox was working.
Any suggestions?
