any music system recommendations

I'm new to the mac world so please bare with me.
I'm wanting to get my music sorted and this would be the ideal set-up, is it possible and if so does anyone have any recommendations.

I'd like to be able to stream music from my mac to a sound system, ideally be able to have set ups in different rooms and be able to control it independently in different rooms.
I came across the Sonos S5 that seems to fit the bill except for the price , I especially like that you can download an app for the touch and use it as a remote.

are there any recommendations/suggestions that wouldn't break the bank?

Airport Express may be exactly what you are looking for. They act as wireless base stations and you can plug them into any speakers.
