Hello everybody!

This is my very first post. I just bought the new MacBook pro (early 2011). I am a teacher, and I generally introduce topics with slides. However, I have not been able to connect my computer to the projector in the classroom.

I got the VIDEO ADP MINI-DVI TO VGA ADAPTER, but when I was going to connect it to the port, the device was too big to fit in the Thunderbolt port. I have looked for an adapter that could work, but I haven't found anything.

Could anybody tell me what should I get? I don't want to spend 20 dlrs again on something that is not going to work for my Mac.

I would really appreciate any help that you could give me! :)

The connector on the Thunderbolt port is a mini displayport (or mdp). A mini-DVI will not work as you've discovered.

You need a mdp to VGA adapter - this is one of those rare occasions where I recommend sticking with Apple's instead of a 3rd party one - link.

Thank you very much. I thought that it was to be easy to find a description such as "Thunderbolt to VGA adapter"... anyways.

I'm going to order it right now!

You're right. They've definitely made it confusing for a lot of people giving this single connector type two different names.
