Gartner: iPad will outsell Android tablets to at least 2015

A fresh long-term protection from Gartner has given Apple the lead in the tablet market for at least the next four years. In spite of the Xoom and other Android 3.0 tablets, the iPad is still expected to dominate 2011 with 68.7 percent share and to only gradually decrease. It would have 63.5 percent of the tablet arena in 2012 and would still have the largest share in 2015 at 47.1 percent....

This is assuming manufacturers actually manage to put out viable Android tablets and not the trash they've been putting out for the past year. For all we know, another contender could beat Google to the punch.

Precisely. However, I sincerely doubt Android will increase market share by as much as predicted in that projection by Gartner. The jump from 2012 to 2015 was 5x as much. Unlikely... :Confused:

2015? Why that year, when he has no facts of actual improvements, besides improvements that are expected to come out via expected updates?

I'm going to make a wiser guess: Apple will continue to outsell the others until someone else makes a better tablet that, A) holds its value, B) people want to have, and C) offers a truly better user experience. If we constantly get such hyped up garbage like the ZOOM, that might take a while!

This assumes that the Android world can get enough parts to make their tablets. Cause if 2010/2011 = 2015 then Apple will still be selling out and will have tight control over the parts supply.

Yes sales are limiting the competition. As is the availability of parts thanks to Apple tight control on them.

Weren't people predicting something similar for Android on the phone?

. They've managed to achieve significant growth on the phone so anything is possible. I don't necessarily think they'll see that same growth with tablets but all it takes is one really good product. Either way, Apple's off to a great start and I don't see their control or influence going anywhere.
