Can you order non-standand config Macs at the Apple Store?

And if this is possible would you have to come back to the store to pick it up or would it be delivered to your house?

I think what happens is you go into the store and you sit down with the salesperson basically on the Apple website and order it through the Apple config procedure like you would at home and fill out the delivery information just like normal, only difference is you can talk to them about it and they can help with the purchase.

Ah ok I see. Thank you for that. I think when the TB imacs come out I'll be at the Apple store for an assisted online purchase. Not cause I need it but cause I want my first outing to the Apple store to have a big purchase to my name.

Does that mean you have never been to an Apple store?
I have been a few times but I have only ever purchased a Mini-Display - VGA adapter, mainly when I go in (as it is a rare occurrence that I do) I just plod around drooling un-controllably. Maybe if I go in enough and drool enough they will take pity on me and give me a shop-display mac and ask me to leave?

Correct. I have been to a few resellers but never an official Apple store.

Just don't go on a weekend... bumper to bumper bodies!

I think it depends on what you want as well. I know I went in and wanted more RAM in a Mac Mini and they said they could put that in for me. They usually have all the different displays available as well.
