Os 9.2

I recently had to reinstall the operating system on a G3. I started with OS 9 and upgraded it to OS 9.2. I've noticed that when I first boot up the system, a folder with a ? mark appears on the screen. Then it switches back and forth with a folder that has a face in it about 3 or 4 times and starts loading the operating system. Is this normal? I thought it was suppose to boot to a Mac face immediately? Thanks for any input.

i dont have any experience with os 9 but it seems like your startup folder link is screwed up somewhere because the mac is trying to find the OS boot folder.

check in system preferences for something with startup folders or something and make sure the boot folder is set on OS 9.2.2

Thats what it sounds like to me. The bootstrap is confusing your machine. I don't know why you would be experiencing this with ONLY OS9. Do you have X on it as well?
