Anyone know a USB dongle that I can use on my Mac Mini to upgrade it from 802.11g to N? It's a bit older but I can't justify upgrading to a new Mini just now. If there isn't a USB dongle then does anyone have a link to a DIY so I can install an internal chip.

Thanks!!

Check out the device used in this article. ATPM 16.12 - Review: MAXPower I am using one with my Mac Pro. The reviewer's experiences pretty well match mine.

If you can't justify it don't bother as N is not that much faster than G, if at all on an older machine. Generally cable is faster than wireless so perhaps hook up an ethernet cable to the modem/router. Have a read of this link:-

Wireless N not faster than my wired connection? - General-Gateways-Routers-and-Firewalls - General-Networking

The machine isn't terribly old, it's the last Mini that didn't have N. It's a 1.83ghz Intel based Mini so it's not awful and I think the speed bump will be useful since all I use it for is a media server.

Oh and Slydude, Thanks! I'm gonna order that later today!!

Lanky us SpeedTest.net to get a speed reading from your current system and when the device is up and running and post here?

I suppose I could, it's not so much download speed from the internet I'm worried about. I'm just looking to get faster file transfers from my laptops/xbox/ps3 to the Mini since the Mini is hooked up to my various hard drive serving media.
