Since the pc of my friend is a real piece of crap to go on the web (it's sooo slow) I want to lend him my old imac G3. My problem is that he does'nt have knowledges on computers and I know nothing about PC.

So I want to connect the internet on the iMac and have the possiblity to share things between his pc and the Mac.

1- Can I connect those with only a network wire between them?
2- what do I have to do on the pc (windows 2000) ... I think?!?) to let the Mac communicate with it?.. I already know waht to do with the Mac!!! ;)
3- will he be able to use the internet on his pc if the main cable is connect to the iMac at first?
Thanks!

1. if you want to have internet connection for both pc and mac, you will need 2 separate wires for each of them. If you only need to share files, then it is possible to do it with an ethernet cable, linking the mac to the pc

2. you can check on www.chouk.co.uk/macsharing . ( i did my own tutorial) :)
about windows 2000, am not sure if the procedure's the same.

3. not too sure what u mean....

I think you already answer it, but I'll try to be more specic (I don't have to explain you that my first language is not english!) ;)
--> So, if the internet connection is in the iMac, both iMac and Pc are connected by an Ethernet cable to each other, will it be possible for the pc to surf the net if I put the «internet sharing» on, on the imac??

It is possible if you get a switch or router, switches are usually cheaper. All you need to do is have three ethernet cables, the main one from the cable/DSL modem that goes into the uplink port on the switch, one that goes into port one on the switch that plugs into the mac, and, lastly, one to go into spot 2 and into the pc. That is, if you want to spend a little extra money on a switch, unless you have one lying around.

Did my reply help? Could you just leave a comment saying if you figured it all out? Thanks.
