I just picked up an old macbook pro 1,1, which had Tiger 10.4.5 installed on it. The wifi worked fine when until I upgraded to SL.
So after I upgraded to snow leopard, and immediately had problems with the wifi. I can connect to my router when I'm very close to it, but as soon as I move more than 5m away from it the signal is lost. Sometimes I can see the network but when I try to connect I get a 'Connection timeout' error.
After some googling I found that the older macbook pros often have bad wifi, but usually upgrading to the latest OSX release fixes things. I have 10.6.6 installed, but still have these problems!
Is it possible that I need to replace the wireless card?
