airport and frustration

My wireless router recently went down. I'm trying to replace it with airport express.

I just read an airport card is needed for this to work. I didn't read anything about this prior to purchasing and now feel stupid. I'm also wondering why a PC can apparently use airport w/o an airport card, while we with non card macs will seemingly be forced to install one or be w/o airport... but maybe I'm mistaken here.

My question: Is there a work around to having airport express without installing the airport card? I'm on a mac pro (2008 I think)... I've read the install is a pain in the ***, not to mention another $50 for the card.

Any help appreciated - thanks,
Jason

Airport is just WiFi. If your Mac has WiFi built-in, you can connect. If it doesn't, the you need the extra card.
