Hi there! I bought my first MBP this summer (call me a newbie) and yesterday a problem emerged.

My internet stopped working and even though my airport says connected and shows a yellow light, so I gave myself a static IP and then the light switch to green. Still no luck...
I've rebooted both my modem, router and wireless router. (and yes, my computer too!) I've given myself a static IP (this is why there is a green light at the moment) but still no connection!
Please help! I can't be without my computer any longer, I have tons of work to do and I am all out of solutions!

What router and wireless router are you connected to?

Even if you give yourself a static IP and DNS - your router/wireless may not allow you to route the traffic if you are truly not connected. Static IP only works once you are truly connected to a router.

Can you connect through a wired connection?

Are you sure that the IP Address is within range of your subnet?

What is your DNS set to?

My router is a Zyxel Prestige
And the wireless router is a Zyxel zyAIR
I can connect with a wire and my other computer, my pc (which also uses the wireless network) works..

The IP should be fine since my brother is using 192.168.1.34 and im using .35
My DNS is set to 255.255.255.0

It is probably your DNS - 255.255.255.0 is a subnet mask for a class C network (generally) Try google's DNS first to see if that is the issue

192 is a class c network, the subnet is fine.

Are there any other devices that work with the router right now?

Maybe what I said is confusing - change your DNS from 255.255.255.0 to 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 - if there are two - otherwise 8.8.8.8 if there is only one field for dns.

From what I read - he has the subnet set as the dns server which I don't think will work

My DNS is set to 255.255.255.0

So he did... I get that you are directing him to use Google as a DNS source, no worries there. Subnet as DNS will not work as you mentioned.
