Hello,

I'm looking for a software package that will log all incoming and outgoing traffic on my network.

I aim to have a monitor setup with a realtime log of this traffic in order to monitor it constantly.

Is there any software that's capable of this out there that's friendly with a mac?

Thanks.

That would depend on the architecture of your network.
Not possible to define an effective solution without a detailed overview of your network.

Am using an Airport Extreme as a router. What exactly do you need to know?

Thanks.

I'm not sure what kind of logging you're looking for but will netstat do the job for you?

What I mean is .... do you want to capture wired and wireless traffic
How many access points ( Entry points ) do you have in your network
Any switches / hubs / routers / Wireless access points / Gateways / firewalls

The terminology " Network " is somewhat vague at the moment ...
The internet is also a network .....if you know what I mean.

I want to capture wireless traffic. By traffic, I mean logs of all incoming connections from the internet to my network and from my network to the internet, in real time.

Executing the following will give you info every one second:
Code:
netstat -w 1
Is that frequent enough? You can also pipe that to a file by doing the following:
Code:
netstat -w 1 > network_traffic
Change network_traffic to the name of the file you want to save the output to.

Van ... I guess the OP wants something graphical in real time, hence all my questions.

It can be as simple as LittleSnitch if he has only one computer, but at the moment, we don't know what his network looks like.

Agreed. I'm running out of ideas.

OP: If netstat doesn't do it for you, what about Wireshark?
