Hoop macbook up to tv with mini adapter..

Hi guys!

I tried hooking my Macbook OS X 10.5.8 to a tv and it didn't work. I used a mini adapter and hdmi cable. Why isn't working and what else can I try?

I have a Macbook from 2008. I would like the sound to come out of the tv. I have a Samsung tv that is part of the 5000 series, I think it may be 5423...I'm not sure on that though.

And since you already have it hooked up, did you go through the troubleshooting steps in post # 2? And the results are?

I did the troubleshooting and still have had no luck. I only have one tv though, so I am unable to try it on a different tv. I was able to hookup a pc to that tv though with no problems.
