Try putting the device in DFU mode and restore to iOS 4.1. Do not use a backup, restore new to wipe the data off it. See if that works. The Limera1n that was pushed out last night was a beta and has bugs in it. Especially from what I've read by users with a 3GS new bootrom. Sorry you had to learn the hard way.

There's not supposed to be a limera1n app, you should only see the Cydia app added to your homescreen.

I seem to recall from using Blackra1n a long time ago that the Blackra1n desktop app installs a Blackra1n app on your iPhone. You run the Blackra1n app on the phone to perform the actual JB. After the JB, you delete the Blackra1n iPhone app. Limera1n probably works the same way.

Assuming you "really" put it into "DFU mode", the error you received might not have anything to do with the device - might be have been a temporary glitch with the update server as noted in your error message.

with either limera1n or Greenpois0n, make sure your using the latest version cause the Dev team has been fixing Greenpois0n, and Geohot has updated limera1n to final builds.

theres no need to go into DFU mode before a jailbreak due to the fact that both tools go through the process within the application you downloaded for a quick and easy jailbreak.

BTW, were you jailbroken before ?
