First post EVER. Please forgive if I violate protocols. :Blushing: I've got a 14" MacBook. 18 mos old. Looking for a PORTABLE storage device (D-photos & basic files). I don't use Time Machine. Saw the 500GB Iomega eGo Helium Portable Hard Drive at the Apple online store. Anyone out there have any experiences (good or bad) with Iomega portables?

Welcome to the Mac Forums.

Your MacBook is a 13" model not 14". As far as buying a good portable hard drive, there are many choices which in my opinion are better than the iOmega.

Take a look at what's available from Other World Computing (http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/firewire/). Their Mercury on the Go series of portable drives are rated best by MacWorld Magazine.

13" & not a 14" - I told you I was a newbee :o Thanks for the tip - heading in that direction now. On another note... What is the aircraft in your signature block? The pic is kind of small but it looks like a B-25 or an A-26. I see you are from FW. Are you a member of CAF?

Yes, check out the OWC site. They're Mac specialists and only carry the best in parts and accessories.

The aircraft is a Douglas B-26D. I was a crew chief on that aircraft at one time. (Telling my age. :) )
