My neighbor got a Macbook Pro and a wireless printer. The Apple Store set the printer up for him and it worked, but it doesn't at home.

Do I have to attach the printer via usb and reinstall again? I'm not sure what the setup at the Apple store was, I assume they were using an Airport. My neighbor has a Belkin router and it's setup with WPA or WEP, not sure which.

I'm not familiar with wifi printers - does the MBP talk directly to the wifi printer or does it use the home router as a go between?

Thanks in advance.

The printer will have to be setup using the router since that's where the security is being generated and the IP address. And yes, the best method is to attach the printer via USB and go thru the HP wireless setup instructions.

Regards.
