Q: Why does the Mac ship with almost no preinstalled games?

A: Once you're a Mac user, you're never that bored. :)

Terminal has some games including Tetris, Pong, and Snake.
First you must find your Emacs version number. In the Terminal, type: cd /usr/share/emacs/ and press ENTER. Now type ls (lowercase LS) and press ENTER again. You’re given your Emacs version number (1.21, for instance). Write it down. Then enter the following: ls /usr/share/emacs/"VERSION"/lisp/play

Replace "VERSION" (no quotations) with the number obtained earlier and press ENTER. You get a directory of all the available games. Make a note of the games.
Switch to Emacs through Terminal by simply typing "emacs" without the quotations. To access the games, press Escape + X, and type the name of the game you want to play and press ENTER. You can switch to the next game by pressing Escape + X and type the name of the next game.
Good luck!

Here is a easier one to understand

1. Open the finder
2. Open Applications
3. Open Utilities
4. Open Terminal
5. type "emacs"; click enter
6. Press ESC + X at the same time
7. Type "tetris"
8. Play Tetris! Use the arrow keys to move and rotate the blocks, and press the space to make the blocks fall.
This isn't really a part of the Mac OS, it's a part of emacs which is part of the UNIX system. Most Mac users don't know this is included with their computer. There are many more games included as well. To know what other games are included, do the following:
Open the terminal again, at the prompt type:
"ls /usr/share/emacs/21.2/lisp/play"
Don't forget the space!
You'll get a directory of the games included with emacs,
to play these games do the same thing as with tetris,
except type your chosen game's name in place of tetris.

Cheers

Has anyone tried quinn? It's a tetris remake, but without having to go into terminal.

Virtual Rep to you Rottie! Love that game! Just tried it and did well. Thanks again!
