Airport to Verizon DSL problem

I have a MacBook Pro with OS X 10.6.1. Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, my Airport connection to a Verizon DSL Modem Router keeps dropping. I have to go into Network Preferences, Assist Me, Diagnostics, and reconnect to my wireless network repeatedly. Placing the system closer to the modem doesn't change anything. Any help would be appreciated.

Welcome to the Forum. Have you tested the connection by connecting your MBP to modem with ethernet cable - does it drop off line in that set up?
Is the Verizon DSL Modem Router providing the wireless network as well?
