I was on the homepage for Mac-Forums. You know the forum index page. And I decided what the heck I'll click the RSS button in safari to learn about RSS. I know what it is but never really used it. And when I got the RSS page on my screen there was some span there. With pictures too.

I'm no expert but from my limited knowledge RSS feeds are only updated info?articles to the site. And I have not seen any of those spam pics in the RSS feed page on the forum proper. Are they just stuff the mods have deleted from the forums? If so is it possible to delete the spam from the RSS feeds too?

I tried to mirror your process using Safari on my own system and I'm not seeing what you're seeing.

Can you elaborate on (step by step) exactly what you did and what you clicked on?

I don't use RSS either, but I'm sure it grabs threads similar to our blog.

There were at least 6 different users putting up posts and links to Indian movie rips/downloads when I logged in this morning. They were disappearing as fast as I could get to them.
Doubt there's a way for the feeds to recognize a spammer thread differently than any other thread.

Ok that I can do.

Step 1. Go to the Mac Forums index page.
Step 2. Look at the picture below. A screen shot of the safari 5 url bar.

Click on the blue RSS button shown in that pic.
And that's all I did.

That is exactly what I saw in the RSS feed.

Sure enough, this time I saw some Aiseesoft spam in there from yesterday evening that I know is not actually present on the forum.

It must be that our RSS feed is just not synchronized with the removal of threads that we do on the actual forums.

Thanks for the head's up, the8thark. We'll see if there's something we can do about that.

I've noticed that the RSS feed is slow so to speak in terms of keeping up with posts. For instance, if I check the "New Posts" RSS feed, it is 8 posts behind (ie. there are 8 newer posts that don't show up in the feed). I did the search at 2:21 and the newest post in the RSS feed was from 1:49 so I'm guessing that there is a half hour delay. Perhaps you just saw the feed between syncs.
