I was contemplating the white book, but for a long term machine I think I'd be upset if I didn't get 4gigs of ram. With the student discount and white book upgraded to 4gigs, the price difference is only about $50 or so. That's the base mbp vs white book w/ added ram. HD space is unimportant to me, so I'll probably order myself a mbp next week. I'm excited! I did expect more drastic changes to the white book though.

It's cheaper to order the computer with the least amount of RAM and upgrade it yourself later.

I thought it was difficult to add more ram in these machines? I mean, I am content with my 4gb now considering I came from a powerspec pc with 512mb (plus 1gb I added). I was just under the impression that it was not an easy task.

It still looks like those cheap laptops those in less privileged countries get.

That may be harsh but the new design is terrible.

The model with the prior design is what I have and is the best looking laptop in my opinion.

Do others agree?

I just bought one for my daughter and yes it is upgraded cpu and graphics card for the same cost, nice deal!
