Is there some way to make the microphone in the iPhone earphones work for speaking into during a phone call so the phone can be used hands free? Seems like that would be the primary reason for the earphones with a mic being included in the box, but mine sure doesn't work.

Mine does - might be a good idea to take it in for a replacment.

Mine works fine as well...I'll even go so far as to say, it works better than any other hands free things I've tried to date.

I know there were some problems with the iPhone mic and buttons. And Apple were recalling them a few weeks ago. Log into the Apple website and type in your serial number of the iPhone, and get the earbuds replaced. They are fully covered under warrenty, even if your AppleCare has expired.

Here:

Apple - Support - iPhone

It's down the page on the right and you enter your serial into the text box.

Goodluck,

-Ben
