• The Mac-Forums Community Guidelines (linked at the top of every forum) are very clear, we respect US law and court precedence when it comes to legality of activity.

    Therefore to clarify:
    • You may not discuss breaking DVD or BluRay encryption, copying, or "ripping" commercial, copy-protected DVDs.
    • This includes DVDs or BluRays you own. Even if you own the DVD or BluRay, it is still technically illegal under the DMCA to break the encryption. While some may argue otherwise, until the law is rewritten or the US Supreme Court strikes it down, we will adhere to the current intent of the law.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying unprotected movies or homemade DVDs.
    • You may discuss ripping or copying tools in the context that they are used for legal purposes as outlined in this post.

I downloaded some videos that have an extension of wmv.001 and wmv.002. I can't seem to open them. I have the free version of flip4mac and it usually opens wmv files without a problem. But I can't seem to open that have an number at the end of the extension.Any help?

Thanks you for any help, I really appreciate it.

Try renaming the files to just the *.wmv extension. If they really are Windows Media files they should open with Flip4Mac. Also - Flip4Mac published an update not too long ago. You might want to make sure you're using the latest version.

Regards.

What are the filenames? It's possible this is one movie that has been split into several parts.
You might try UnrarX or the Unarchiver or even Stuffit to join them.

The files that are named wmv.001 opens when I rename it. However wmv.002 or wmv.003 do not open. This is the same for all files with wmv.002 or higher.
