Hey All

I have just brought a HDMI enabled TV and brought all the cables needed to stream from my Mac onto it. I can get the pictures up fine, but I cant get the sound gong. I have a stereo cable going from the headphone jack, into th audio plugs in the back of the TV....any Info would be appreciated.

Well since minidisplay port is a proprietary connection that IS an HDMI bus, it should carry sound by itself.

Its not the greatest, just a Bus 21" LCCD. Its a BTVD31217S2. The headphone jack works fine wien I have headphones in it, the sounds plays when I have nothing in the headphone port, but when I connect the stereo connection to the TV....nothing.

Best I can tell, the brand is Bush which was bought by Argosy a few years ago. Have been unsuccessful at finding any owner's manuals on these TVs.

My guess would be that it does not provide for a separate audio inout that will work with HDMI.

You'll need to dig out your owner's manual or just look at the back of the set. Most manufacturers that do allow for a DVI device connection, will have only one (1) of the HDMI ports that will work with a separate audio in. You'll be looking to see if one of the ports is labeled HDMI/DVi. If it does not, you are probably out of luck with HDMI. If it does, most TVs will have an audio in next to that single HDMI/DVI port. A very few will use the audio form the PC In with it.

FYI: No Mac at this point in time carries the audio from it's mini displayport.
