Can anyone tell me how to superimpose text on a photo? (I want to add labels to link items in a photo to some descriptive text.)

This depends very much on what program you're using to work with the photos.

One of the better ones I've found for this particular job (captioning photos right on the photo itself) is the now-free Portraits & Prints from Econ Technologies.

(full disclosure, they are former colleagues of mine -- but have a great rep quite independent of anything I say)

You can also look at Photoshop Elements, which of course can do this.

iPhoto has a very limited way of displaying a short basic caption within photos in slideshows. It's meant to be unobtrusive and it is. :)

If you're wanting this for scrapbooking purposes there are a couple of good Mac scrap programs, let us know.

I've downloaded "Portraits & Prints" and it does exactly what I want. Thank you very much.
