This is kind of exciting for anyone who used to rock their first Commodore 64 playing D&D or Wizards etc..

Interesting to note:
The Commodore was engineered to fit a lot of computer into a little space. It’s powered by an Intel Core 2 Duo or Core Quad processor, with advanced graphics and fast DDR memory. There’s plenty of storage space — up to 2 Terabytes— for just about anything. And it comes with any OS you choose (Mac OS X Snow Leopard not supported and must be customer installed) How can something so small be something so huge?

Personally speaking, if it works with OS X I'd be very interested in getting one to try it out. But I know we're not supposed to talk about this kind of thing, so ... just pretend I didn't say it !

Sad that Commodore Gaming will license what was a once proud brand to anyone peddling generic PC hardware. I'm just glad that the same hasn't been done with the Amiga name.

What a bummer... this could have been really cool. Imagine all the new and faster hardware, but with a tweaked version of the original Commodore OS. Run all your favorite old games on a fast CPU with stable graphics on an old 32" Sony Trinitron CRT Television. Now THAT would be cool.

Hmm..so it's a computer crammed into a keyboard..what's the biggie? Surely thing is nothing like the original Commodore since you still have to install your own OS and the mention of OS X makes it all but certain that you're going to the EULA-breaking route to get it on there..

Sure no company would actually suggest such an action or they'd get slammed by Apple in short order..

Regards

They're a startup LLC that seems to have a license to the name. The modern system-in-a-keyboard design has been around for awhile, I've seen them on the back page of many computer magazines. I'd imagine it uses a micro ATX board. So, assuming they found a Chinese distributor for the cases, they're not doing anything really extraordinary, other than having licensed the Commodore name and chicken lips logo.

Sad though. There is an entire generation of people (myself included) who have a certain fondness for Commodore. It would be nice if someone actually took some time to develop a truly appealing product that uses that branding.

By the way, for those of you who miss the old C=64, Cloanto makes an awesome legal and licensed emulator package (bundled with games) called C64 Forever. Check it out:

C64 Forever - All-in-One C64 Emulator, Games, Demoscene and Support

I own this and have been pleased with it. The only issue is that I have to run it on VMWare ;)

I got into computers a bit after the C64 stuff..my first PC was a 286 2Mhz beast..so I know next to nothing about the Commodore and it's ilk..:)

Unless Commodore puts their own OS on it, it's just another AIO computer with a keyboard built-in, IMO.

Nothing makes this "outstanding" or anything. I mean, it looks pretty sweet, and would be awesome for a media center (maybe?).
