Question about "Boot Camp"

I have just noticed the software Boot Camp in the apple site and I had a question about it that I couldn't find an answer to... so here is my question:
Basically, it means that you have Mac OS X and Windows installed on your computer and while you are using the Mac OS, and you want to use an exe file, you operate boot camp and it somehow uses the windows to allow you to work that program while Mac OS is running?
If I'm wrong, would someone please describe how it works in simple english?

Boot camp is simply a tool built into Leopard and SnowLeopard for Intel Macs that will let you have an installation of OSX and an installation of Windows on your mac.

You hold the option key down on startup to choose which to boot into.

They are separate and discreet from one another.

If you need to run windows apps without re-booting you need to look to 'Virtual Machines' applications like Virtual Box, VMWare and Parallels.

In all cases you'll need a full Windows install disc.
