Only way to get output from the iMac G4 is by using the Mini-VGA port.
You can get a Mini-VGA to VGA adapter and then this VGA to HDMI adapter.
Crazily expensive for all that though!

And of course add to the above, the VGA cable and the HDMI cable.
I would suggest you check the rear of your TV again to make sure it does not have a VGA input. Then pull the owners manual out and see what resolutions your TV is capable of receiving via it's VGA port.
