I'll be going away for the holidays and will be without an internet connection for two weeks. I want to use this time to teach myself MySQL (I'm already pretty experienced with PHP).

Due to lack of outside communication abilities, I'll need to install PHP and MySQL locally on my MacBook Pro. I know OS X comes bundled with Apache, so that's fine, but I've never really used a Mac as a server before (I use FreeBSD for that).

My question is - how would I go about installing PHP and MySQL to my Mac running SL?

Thanks.

Type the following in Terminal. Isn't PHP already installed.

php -v

That leaves MySQL which last time I checked, had a download. Don't forget to read the platform notes.

You may have to tweak Apache to allow PHP to be used MySQL.
