Hello All,

I'm wanting to add some storage to this machine,

Machine Name: Power Mac G5
Machine Model: PowerMac7,2
CPU Type: PowerPC 970 (2.2)
Number Of CPUs: 2
CPU Speed: 1.8 GHz
L2 Cache (per CPU): 512 KB
Memory: 5 GB
Bus Speed: 900 MHz
Boot ROM Version: 5.1.5f0

I went to OWC and the online selector there says this one will work, however, from what I have read I will need a Serial-ATA drive and not a SATA drive.

Could anyone set me straight on this.

Thanks for any information.

Your Mac's Specs
MacMini 14.3, 8.1 & 4.1, OS 13.5, 10.14, & 10.11 & 10.6; Macbook Pro 8.2, OS 10.12.
Serial-ATA = SATA.

Your G5 is amongst the first of the G5 line produced - M9393LL/A (dual 1.8 GHz) [source: Mactracker]. It does indeed have an SATA hard drive, and any additional drives, of which you can add two, should also be SATA.

Hitachi make good drives, good choice. Have fun!
