Office 2008 upgrade problems

MS Office 2008 autoupdated on my Mac today and now I can't open MS Word, Powerpoint.....
Authorization code was asked for just like during initial install some 3 months ago. Is this a service pack (SP2?) problem. How do I restore software so MS Office works again like it did yesterday? Thanks:Smirk:

Your Mac's Specs
Silver M1 iMac 512/16/8/8 macOS 11.6
Try deleting these two files:-

Library/Preferences/Microsoft/Office 2008/Microsoft Office 2008 Settings.plist


Applications/Microsoft Office 2008/Office/OfficePID.plist

See if all is well after that. The latest update is version 12.2.3. If you still have problems, pop your Cd in and run the uninstaller, and install a fresh new copy. Yopu can use the original verification code, and then update.
