desperate for a draw program like old ClarisWorks had

I recently moved from a really old Mac using ClarisWorks 5.0 to a brand new iMac (my first new Mac ever!) using iWorks 9.0. The old ClarisWorks had a great draw program with which I made grids and diagram for math tests (I am a high school math teacher). The new iWorks, although a major improvement in most ways, does not have a similar draw program, and I have searched for something appropriate to use to draw grids and diagrams, and have not found anything to my liking. Can anyone out there suggest something that might work?

Thank in advance.

Have you tried GIMP? It's a great alternative for pretty much all of your drawing needs

I just tried Inkscape, but it won't open. I suspect that it's not compatible with Snow Leopard yet. The website said something about a new version that it will make available as soon as it works all the bugs out, so maybe that version will work on Snow Leopard. I've found a few programs that won't work on Snow Leopard, and it's frustrating.

Meanwhile, I'm testing DoodleCad, and it seems to be okay.

For drawing grids/graphs and things of that nature, I use OmniGraffle.
