I was told by "We fix macs" that I should skip the 10.4 upgrade and go directly to 10.5 as it's faster and better, and cheaper. I should be receiving 2gb (4x512mb) by FedEx on Tuesday, which will replace my 512mb.

I'm also looking at getting Airport or AP Extreme. Yet now is that I see versions that say for FW800. My model number is 3.3 but unless there's something written on the back or in tiny typeface that I'm not aware of; I have no idea how to tell.

That machine meets the requirements for Leopard and you don't need to have a FW800 port.

Select 'About this Mac' from under the apple in the menu bar, More Information and then down to Firewire. This will tell you if you have the 400 or 800 bus.
