I have a Power PC G5 running 10.4.11, and I would like to have simultaneous audio output to both a USB Audio DAC, and to powered speakers connected to the headphone jack. Can anybody tell me how to do this? Appreciate it a lot.

In 10.4.11 you have the option of USB sound OR audio out.

I've tried to use my USB headphones as well as line out to amplifier/speakers, but it doesn't work. The choice, by the way, is in Sys Prefs > Sound > Output. You can toggle between options with the up and down arrows, but you can't have both simultaneously.

Hughvane - Thanks for your help. Do you know whether 10.5 Leopard allows it?

Quite honestly - no - but I doubt it. Sys Prefs from Tiger to Leopard didn't change all that much. Grasping a bit at strings here, USB is digital, audio out is analog, so the two are not compatible, hence no simultaneous option.
