I just bought a refurbished 500gb Time Capsule model A1254 and am currently doing my first backup. I noticed it was running a little warm, so I elevated it and put a fan on it. I read in some forums that
A. they can often get very hot
B. the power supply sometimes dies after ~18months of use.

Im not really sure which generation TC mine is (I believe second), and I'm wondering if my model will have similar failure issues or if the problem was resolved. Also, how much will keeping the TC cool help the life of the power supply? Thanks for reading

When i got my new TC i stuck furniture feet on it to raise it for better cooling, just in case. Did same with MacBook, put felt feet on it as well. Of course i cannot tell if will make a difference.

Probably the only Time Capsules that won't die after 18 months are the ones that died before that time. ;D
