Hi guys

Just got my first mac yesterday, I LOVE IT....:D

How can i get this kind of sorting of files and folder in finder...?
1) List all folders alphabetically.
2) List all remaining files alphabetically.

Thanks

Look here - the disclosure triangle changes display top to bottom and click header selects which one does sorting

Click for full size

Not sure how you separate folder and files in same window

Well, not sure about the Automator, and how it works, just got it yesterday.

What im trying to get is, that all the folders are displayed first and then the files. now all files/folder are just displayed alphabetically....

As work round with window selected you could choose New Folder from File menu - call it Folders and drag all folders into it that, that way you would only have the one folder in that window. If u want it at top or bottom of window then click on the folder - Get Info from File menu and change its name to 1Folders which should then allow it to show at top of list.

As many others on this forum will tell you as well, you'll learn to appreciate the Mac OS more quickly when you stop trying to make it behave like Windows.

hi, i think i understand what you are asking 'cause i had the same issue.
Go to Finder..
Click on View...
Click on Show View Options ..
The last column is "Arrange by" ... choose "kind" in that.
Then all your folders will be sorted first and then the files.
Good luck.

Right. But the files then don't seem to also be sorted alphabetically.

On my computer the files do appear sorted alphabetically.
Of course, they are first sorted by KIND and then by FILENAME.
So if they dont appear sorted by name, its only because they are with different extensions...
