I've got an old Mac Performa 631CD that runs OS 7.5.1 and a new Intel Mac Mini running OS 10.5.8.

I want to transfer some old files off the Performa to the Mini. I successfully pulled the hard drive out and using a USB 2.0 to IDE & SATA Cable and plugged it in to my Mini. The drive spins up and the cable indicator lights tell me there is communication going on, but the drive doesn't show up in Finder ... and the Mini doesn't even register that I've plugged anything in.

Help?

If the disk in question shows up in "Disk Utility" on your Mini...you may have to select it...and "Mount" it.

The Drive is formated in Mac OS standard. I would just leave it in 631. At the most you could maybe move Jpegs. A network connection between the two may prove more favorable.
