hi everyone I got my macbook pro last week, and I want to install windows to run a few games I have.

i have the bootcamp drive and went through that but when i put the windows disc in the macbook crashes, and then i have to get the disc out before it will reboot back to the desktop.

It installs windows i think and then says it will reboot and then thats when it has the problem comes up disc error hit any key to reboot but hitting any key doesnt reboot the sysytem, and i thought I had broke it but got the disc out by pressing the eject button as soon as i turn the macbook on.

Any ideas and is there a step by step guide to installing windows.

oh i was trying to install windows XP with service pack 2 on.

thank you for any help
Angela

The very first screen of BootCamp Assistant is a button labled:

Print Installation and Setup Guide

Click there and print to a pdf file or to paper.

I have now installed windows :)

I can start in either windows or mac now, it says you can run xp while booted in the mac os how do you do that run them along side each other, rather then just having one or another on.

Thanks Angela

P.S I hope that made sense

You'll run Windows in a virtual machine with VMWare Fusion or Parallels

Short answer: Boot Camp allows you to be in Windows or in OSX, but not both at the same time. To do that, you don't use Boot Camp - you use a virtual machine in VM Ware Fusion, Parallels Desktop or VirtualBox. The virtual machine run under Mac OSX. You can create a VM from your BootCamp installation, however. Take a long look at the stickies above.

Cheers
