I was wondering, before I purchase my MacBook Pro and Airport (if needed), if this set-up would work.

Could someone let me know?

Yes, it'll work. That's how most of us who have a small network consisting of both Mac and Windows machines plus AE are doing it.

There are several informative sites which have guidelines and hints about networking Macs and Windows machines together. You might take a visit to one or two of them and get some more ideas.

Here's one.

Regards.

How do I not allow file sharing between computers, but maintain an internet and printer connection?

I've just noticed that I cannot connect directly to the ADSL line using the Airport. I've adjusted my set-up so it would look like this (DSL line and modem/router should say ADSL): Would sharing a printer still work?
