I've been searching around for a new phone and I'm really interested in the iphone but I'm coming across so many different prices, I seen a 16Gig going for as low as $150 then I seen them going for as much as $400. What should I expect the prices to be for an 8Gig or 16Gig?

Well, based on what I've seen on craigslist and eBay, you can look at about 250-300 for a used 8GB 3G, and 350-400 on a 16GB. Don't let anyone charge you more than 400 for a used 16GB. There's cheaper alternatives out there.

Here's what I suggest, if I were you:

Look around for a broken iPhone 3G. Make sure, and I mean make SURE there is NO water damage to it (this can be found in the headphone port and on the dock connector). If there is NO water damage, you can take a broken iPhone in and have it replaced with a new 3G for 200 bucks.

One of my friends gave me his broken 16GB 3G and I took in and paid 199 and got a brand new one. This is something to consider if you want an iPhone but don't want to get ripped off.

EBay seems to be a good option for getting a broken or used one for a pretty good price, check there.

It's all about contract versus no contract. AT&T subsidizes part of the phone with a contract. I am assuming the OP is talking about just buying one outright. Otherwise, the pricing is obviously posted all over Apple's website as well as AT&T's. Make sense?

May have to think about replacing both of ours and getting the new one before they drop too much.

Yes I was talking about buying w/o a contract. I'm not ready to make the switch over to AT&T just yet. Thanks so much. I didn't know that about broken ones. Where would I take it for the switch? An Apple store?

Thanks again!

eBay usually sells for way more. If your selling go there.

Craigslist has good offers and you can usually get the person to go down a little bit. Craigslist is your best bet i think.
