When will my reasonably new MBP 13" get the shiny key problem from skin oil? Can I stop it with anything except a silicon cover? Are keys covered by Apple Care?

Thanks in advance.

Do not use your computer at all and you should not have to worry about it.

Seriously though, just enjoy your computer. :) I have had my computer for a while already and no shiny key issue here.

Your keys going shiny due to the oil on your fingers is not covered by AppleCare, the 'damage' is simply cosmetic, it doesn't effect the performance of your machine at all.

Or just quit stressing over the keyboard, whether it's shiny or letters wear off, and enjoy the use of it. Nothing lasts forever...

Wear gloves.

I wasn't being sarcastic. >_>" If you seriously don't want thing to be shinny then you need to not touch the keyboard surface with your hands directly. There needs to be something in between.

The keyboard protectors are nice and all, but they do block airflow and that could potentially cause overheating.

That's why I suggested gloves. You might get a sweaty under there but at least you won't have shinny a shiny keyboard.

The well-worn look is "in" - people pay good money for pre-shredded, pre-stained jeans. You are really a trend setter if you look at it... ;)

I usually wipe them off with tissue paper after I'm done shutting down.

I don't think people pay for things that have humanly body fluids on it. Unless they have some kind of fetish. >_>""
