No picture on LCD TV

I have a IMAC 20" and Sony Bravia 46" FULL HD. I connect imac to the LCD TV via the mini dvi to dvi and dvi to HDMI.

imac recognizes Sony TV. But on TV there is no picture. I try different resolutions and still no pictures. Please help me.

Sometimes I have to turn the TV to the correct input and then sleep the Mac. When I wake it up the screen comes up fine. Maybe try that?
