i have the upgraded unibody 13" mbp, and a 32" sharp lcd tv (LC-32SH12U) which displays up to 1080i. i have set up thru a mini dvi->dvi to hdmi. at first it took up the whole screen, with overscan on, but the top, left, bottom, and right were all zoomed in too far and the image was cut off. now i turned off overscan, everything is there, but now there are bars around each edge

Your MacBook probably isn't set at the native resolution of the TV. Check to make sure it's set to 1920x1200.
