I run XP under Fusion for over a year. In XP/Fusion i used to be able see my D: and then able to install XP stuff. Now my cd drive D: kept asking me to insert a disk. When a disk was install. it loads in the OSX desktop. I have no idea how this developed.

iMac 24" (1 year old) OSX Leopard and up to date, Fusion (up to date) and XP SP2. Did not bother to install SP3 as things were running fine then.

Any explanation/suggestion/advice? Thanks

You might have Fusion in unity mode. Try playing around with the settings before you load XP up. I never use unity, so i can't say how to turn it off, but try searching for it in the preferences.

I used Unity mode once - just to see what it was all about. And have never used it again ... so far. And I have been trying things out in the Preference pane. So far, no luck.

I had to copy CD contents to the XP/Fusion and execute installations therefrom. Not very satisfactory though.

Try reinstalling the Fusion guest tools. If that doesn't work, you might have to kill the VM and start over. Also, you might find a better solution by visiting the Fusion forums and asking: Link (http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/desktop/fusion)

Regards.

Many thanks, Chscag!
How did I forget about the Fusion Forum? The answer was there all the time.
