So as a new Mac user (purchased a Macbook Pro) I want to get everything up and running with mac equipment now. I have a windows XP desktop, and a vista laptop. I have a canon photo printer, dell inkjet, a scanner that seems to only work with XP, and want to get an external HDD.

Will my network be succesful if I purchase a Airport extreme, a usb hub and plug my printers, scanner and external HDD? I want to centrally locate all my files on this external HDD and pull from it when I need something like Music or photos.

Eventually, I want to replace my other laptop and desktop witha macbook and a imac.

1. using a hub you can connect all of those to your extreme. to be able to use them with your windows machine(s) be sure to have Bonjour for Windows installed on your pc's.

2. for your scanner try VueScan
