if by windows version you mean dual-boot into windows, then yes you would be able to run anything windows-specific

If you only need live messenger, and don't want to dual boot, you can look into either Darwin (which may support live messenger, I don't know) or using a virtual machine within OSX so you don't have to leave OSX just for messenger.

the 3 big VM tools for Mac I'm aware of (VMWare, Parallels, VirtualBox) all support unity mode so it makes the program you're running feel less like you're running it in a separate os and more like you're running it on your mac. VMWare and Parallels both cost money. VirtualBox is free open source.

Better yet - just use Adium?

Better yet - just use Adium?Agreed. Why not just use a Mac client that connects with MSN? You can thus save yourself having to install Windows just to use MSN.
