Sigh, Dell always a day late and a dollar short...

So every time someone releases an ultra-thin notebook... it's a MacBook Air clone?

This is a 'clone' or copied Apple product

What Dell did was just make a thin notebook.

Not everything you see is from an idea that was 'ripped-off' from Apple.

Hmmm aluminum chassis, edge to edge glass display bezel (granted that's a unibody rip-off), same processor specs, if it walks like a duck and quacks like one, why are you gonna try and call it a goose?

Four years ago we started buying Toshiba Porteges that look and feel a lot like the Air. The idea's been around for a while.

Because the Adamo is nowhere near up to specs with the Air.

For one, it does NOT have the same processor specs.....the low end Adamo has a 1.2ghz while the high end has a 1.4ghz. Low end Air is 1.6ghz and high end is 1.8ghz.

Then look at the price for what you get......HA! Dell execs must have been doing some pretty good drugs when they figured that this would fly. Absolute rubbish!

I don't get branding anymore.. If it works for you, then go for it, whether it be an Apple or Dell..

Same with clothing.. I don't understand why people are obsessed with brands.

At least people can't complain that Apple overcharges and hold up Dell as an example.

I don't see this as a clone at all either. It's design (very ugly IMHO) is a lot different than the MBA. And as someone mentioned, extremely thin notebooks have been around for a while. I almost bought a Portege years ago myself.

Besides, if I were going to an ultrathin laptop in a Windows flavor, it would definitely be one of these.

I've never understood it either.
In my eyes, it is absolutely juvenile the way some people "defend their brand" with the fervor and vigilance that only the most committed fanboys can muster...
Ford vs. Chevrolet...Honda vs. Harley...Apple vs. Microsoft...Fender vs. Gibson...Xbox vs. Playstation...Republican vs. Democrat... CD vs. Vinyl... etc, etc, etc.

It's just like a couple of third-graders having the "my dad is better than your dad because my dad he can __(fill in the blank)__ " argument during recess.

It's all very irrelevant and childish when you think about it.

Totally.. I mean, there are brands I prefer over others out of personal preference/experience, but I'm not a "fanboy" or defend whatever product to the death.

I buy/use what fits my budget/lifestyle/needs, period.

I'm not taking it seriously at all.. The only resemblance to the Air that this notebook has, is the fact it's a "thinbook" as I call them. Sure there might be subtle similarities.. But it seems that everything these days is a clone of something else..

I know people who hate the Pontiac Sunfire.. But love the Chev Cavalier.. It's the same bloody car!

But anyways.. I think the idea is neat.. I hate the way the monitor opens a the back there's that small "tab" poking out.

I like that Dell understands some people may want more than just a silver body!

Funny.. The more I look at it, the more I like it.

I mean just look at it. It goes from one edge to the other. No border around the display. It's wonderful.

But the important question is: does the picture go from one edge to the other? I'm guessing no. The only pic I've seen of something on the screen is a small logo with black all around so you can't tell. If the picture did go from edge to edge, I'm sure they would be boasting it in their glamor shots.
